Hey Girls!!
Parents, your girls are awesome! They have been getting between 2-2.3 miles each time we meet! That is amazing! A 5k is only 3.1 miles so we are already almost up to that distance already! WOW! I will try to get some pictures posted today, unfortunately it snowed last night so we will probably be running inside again today.

Out of the Girl Box Skills being provided: Learning about proper nutrition and how to incorporate balanced eating into a busy schedule as an effective way to keep one’s energy up, stay strong, and cope with daily stressors from school, homework, outside school activities, and family responsibilities.

Learning Goals:
Learning Goals:
- To teach the girls about positive and balanced eating habits
- To explain the importance of the different food groups
- To teach the girls how to incorporate healthy eating into their schedules

- Do you have any ideas on how you can eat more nutritiously?
- Are there changes you think that we might make at home that we could talk about?
Lesson 6: Empowered Bodies
Learning Goals:
- To define the terms “emotional eating” and “restricted eating” and discuss how these behaviors might make us feel
- To provide information on anorexia and bulimia
- To continue the conversation on positive and balanced eating habits
- To discuss the importance of positive thoughts, an empowered body image and why all girls must develop a strong sense of self
Out of the Girl Box Skills being provided: Time Management and minimizing stress; using positive self-talk; and increasing awareness of self.

What a great week! The girls all did 2 miles yesterday! That is only one mile less that what we need to do in the 5K! How awesome right?! We are having a wonderful time getting to know each other and learning how to run and how to be a girl who is outside of the girl box! Keep up all the awesome work! Below is the weekly email for week 2.

Lesson 3: Learning to Deal
Learning Goals:
- To identify various stressors (including school and related academic worries) that cause anxiety
- To learn how effective time management skills can alleviate the stress associated with these concerns
Coping Skill (or Out of the Girl Box Skill) being provided: Time Management Techniques
Lesson 3 Conversation Starters:
- Can you share a time management tool that you might like to try at home?
- Is there a way that I can help you accomplishment a time management or study habit goal?
Lesson 4: Balance Beam of Life
Learning Goals:
- To identify the individuals in our lives who are extremely important to us
- To learn why it is important to balance time with our friends and family, with all of the other activities we do
- To learn how effective time management skills can help us do
Coping Skill (or Out of the Girl Box Skill) being provided: Time management and learning how to strike a balance.
